It's an exciting time here at Hyde Park! Don’t worry, this neighborhood landmark is here to stay, we’re just freshening up a bit with a cool transformation! The integrity and tradition of tailoring will continue with a touch of glitter and lots of fun shopping!
I love the history of the tailor shop and the ambiance of the space.
I am hoping that the original hardwood floor underneath the red and black tile is salvageable. While cleaning out the basement, we found tons of treasures. The new space will feature vintage sewing equipment, clothing racks and fixtures that have been part of Hyde Park's history throughout the years. Sorry these sweet finds are not for sale, but we have a lot of other really cool stuff to buy!
Believe it or not, in my long 25 years, I've never painted a wall or a room before! So, this was my first time and I LOVED it! I found the perfect shades of white (City Snow) and light grey (Skyline Shadow), after surrendering to the fact that Lowe’s does not carry metallic paint, which was my first choice. While there, I overheard a fellow customer mention to a Lowe's employee that he had been using these amazing paint crystals--little silver flecks of a glitter-like material that you simply mix into the paint. *link to paint crystals below. You must see our beautifully subtly sparkled wall!
The floors are being redone tomorrow, Thursday, October 16th. We will be closed for a few days but will reopen for tailoring and dry cleaning as usual on Tuesday, October 21st.
Don't forget to Save the Date for our Grand Opening on Thursday, November 6th at 5:00pm!
Stay tuned for more details!
